Miles Brooks holds his Master’s in Tax, is a Certified Public Accountant, and is the Director of Tax Strategy at CoinLedger. Miles previously worked at Apercen Partners, a boutique tax firm that specializes in servicing ultra-high net-worth founders and investors from Silicon Valley with income and wealth planning strategies.

Miles’ background with cryptocurrency dates back to 2017, when he became a trusted crypto resource internally for Apercen Partners. After falling down the crypto rabbit-hole, Miles began educating himself and his firm on the tough, gray areas of crypto tax. Many clients of Apercen, being savvy technologists from Silicon Valley, were already invested in the cryptocurrency space. Many more soon followed. Miles' background uniquely enabled him to identify the new tax issues that arose from the properties of bitcoin and other blockchain assets.

As the cryptocurrency ecosystem continued to develop, Apercen Partners began acquiring clients who obtained their wealth solely from the crypto world. Miles began servicing these crypto-native founders and investors in 2018, cementing himself as a leader in the world of cryptocurrency taxes.

Fast forward to today, and Miles continues to dive deep into the tax implications of cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and the new decentralized finance protocols being developed. As these protocols continue to push the boundaries of what is possible within art, finance, and Web3, Miles is determined to bring clarity to the taxability of interacting with this new cryptocurrency-enabled world.
